Description

There have not been many clear nights over my part of the planet recently, but I did manage to image this wonderful cluster briefly between dusk and moonrise one night last week.

This is the southern most Messier object, and is a favourite of mine through the eyepiece. I was originally perplexed at the inclusion of this cluster (well known since the 2nd century AD) in a list of comet-like objects, but expect it looks a tad fuzzy at only 5 degrees above the horizon in Paris!

Stay well and thanks for looking!
